HOW #SURFACE MATTERS

On April 13th, on the occasion of Milano Design Week (April 11-17), a meeting around the topic #SURFACE will be held at the headquarters of baba. The discussion will explore the relationship between trends, innovation and new materials: screens, mirrors, filters, stages etc. brand and product innovative concepts for a brand new target segmentation. The discussants will be Giulia Ceriani, baba CEO, and Fabrizio Renzi, Director of Technology and Innovation at IBM Italia.

Parity talks

Today we celebrate women’s day with a sweet/sour campaign from architectural world. To promote a series of talks about the industry’s gender imbalance at Swiss university ETH Zurich, Herzog & de Meuron authorized the use of their image made up as drag queens. With them, also Semper and Le Corbusier. According to the university’s figures, the architecture profession is still imbalanced, with a 25% of women as professionals and only an 11% of female professors. Smart textiles

This year two big exhibitions about the merging of fashion and technology will be held at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The exhibitions will explore the new patterns of collaboration between scientists, engeneers and designers, and the way they push the boundaries of manufacturing and design, blurring the traditional distinction between the haute couture and prêt-à-porter. We are particularly interested in seeing the selection, because the garment as an interface was a focus of our 2016 Trendmonitor, Surface.

Marketing and self-fulfilling prophecies

The tastiest effect of the “Vegetarian Berlusconi” viral news (while apparently Berlusconi is not vegetarian) is that, mistaken as an astute operation of political marketing, it proves that turning vegetarian would be an an astute operation of political marketing.

”A factory in Japan will be the first fully robot-run farm, with a team of automated systems handling every step of the farming process, from watering seeds to harvesting crops. The only part of the process requiring human imput is seeding. “Seed planting will be done by people, but the rest of the process, including harvesting, will be done by industrial robots” said a spokesperson for the company”. 

Sicuramente taglierà i costi del personale della metà e i costi energetici di un terzo. Il futuro del lavoro sarà sempre più automatizzato.

Apple vs FBI: nello scontro sono in gioco libertà civili, libertà individuali, privacy, sicurezza nazionale. Uno scontro che oppone nettamente il pubblico e il privato, con esiti imprevedibili sul cittadino.Tim Cook ha fatto una scelta marketing oriented, siamo tutti d’accordo?

Unioni Civili

Ricomincia oggi la discussione al Senato sul ddl Cirinnà dopo la sospensione di mercoledì scorso. I Millennials sono il segmento più interessato: non solo perché sono la categoria maggiormente coinvolta dalla legge, ma perché raccontano come sta cambiando l’Italia. Se la maggioranza non ha dubbi sul diritto di amare chi si vuole (8 su 10), i dubbi aumentano di fronte alla stepchild adoption (2 su 5 non sono d’accordo) e le opinioni si parificano di fronte all’utero in affitto. Saranno ancora loro davvero il target più avanzato?
